EUGLOH Mobility Program for Doctoral Candidates at LMU Munich

Together with the Universities of Lund (Sweden), Paris-Saclay (France), Porto (Portugal) and Szeged (Hungary), LMU Munich has successfully applied for funding within the "European Universities Initiative".

During the coming three years, the "EUGLOH – European University Alliance for Global Health" will pool their expertise, platforms and resources to deliver joint curricula and training modules covering various disciplines related to Global Health.

Within the framework of EUGLOH activities, doctoral candidates of LMU Munich can apply for a mobility allowance. The allowance is provided by DAAD for research stays at the partner universities of the EUGLOH program (Lund University, University of Paris-Saclay, University of Porto, University of Szeged). The stay must be related to the individual doctoral project and should have a connection to the topic of Global Health.

Kind of support Mobility allowance (paid as lump sum including travel and monthly living costs)
Target group Doctoral candidates with an official supervisor at LMU Munich who plan a research stay at one of the EUGLOH partner universities (Lund University, University of Paris-Saclay, University of Porto, University of Szeged)
Eligibility Doctoral candidates can apply, if
  • they hold a university degree that entitles to a doctorate,
  • have an official supervisor at LMU Munich and
  • the research project is related to the topic of Global Health.
Support scale A doctoral candidate can apply for a stay of 1, 2 or 3 months. Shorter or longer stays are not eligible for funding. The mobility allowance is 1,200 Euro per month.
Billing When the grant is approved, it is possible to apply for an advance payment, which can amount to a maximum of 70 % of the approved mobility allowance. The final payment can only be made after submission of a report (about 2 pages) and on presentation of travel expenses and accommodation receipts.

Please prepare the following documents (as PDFs):
  • CV (The CV should especially address your academic activities.)
  • Copy of university degree certificates
  • Letter of motivation explaining how the research project is linked to Global Health and why this research stay supports the progress of your doctoral project (max. 1,000 words)
  • Work and time schedule for the stay at the EUGLOH partner university
  • Invitation or similar by a host at the EUGLOH partner university for the planned research stay

Your official supervisor needs to supply an academic reference letter or email (max. 1 page) explaining the purpose of the proposed trip.

Application deadlineStart of the research stay
4 weeks before the beginning of the research stay The start of the research stay may be no later than December 31, 2020.

  • Only complete applications that are submitted in due time will be considered.
  • The reference letter must be received by the GraduateCenterLMU in due time.
  • Please note that in case of rejection we cannot elaborate on the reasons for the decision.
