LMU Stipends for LERU Doctoral Summer Schools

Since 2010 LMU Munich grants stipends for the annual LERU Doctoral Summer Schools. LERU (League of European Research Universities) is an association of 23 research-intensive universities in Europe.

The Tenth LERU Doctoral Summer School is hosted by the University of Edinburgh from July 15 to 19, 2019.

The theme of the Summer School is "Building Research Capacity and a Collaborative Global Community".

The Summer School will focus on international collaboration, giving participants the dual benefits of an enhanced understanding of the nature and importance of collaboration, whilst simultaneously creating a multi-disciplinary, global network for their future careers.

Application deadline is March 15, 2019.

Costs There is a fee of 500 Euro per participant. This covers course materials, University accommodation for five nights from July 14 to 19, 2019 (Sunday night to Friday morning), meals and participation in the social program.
The GraduateCenterLMU grants stipends to cover the participation fee and to support travel expenses (650 Euro).
Target group Advanced doctoral candidates of LMU Munich from all disciplines. The candidates should be keenly motivated to work intensively and contribute to the production of a Collaboration Guide over the course of the week in Edinburgh. Candidates must be available for the entire duration of the Summer School, and must be prepared to participate in all activities. Fluency in both spoken and written English is essential.

  • A cover letter explaining your motivation to attend the LERU Doctoral Summer School (max. two pages)
  • CV (The CV should especially address your academic activities.)

Please ask your official supervisor to send a letter of reference by email or by regular mail directly to the GraduateCenterLMU. The letter can be written either in German or in English.
