Thema der Dissertation: Tidying up the nucleus - which molecular factors build the compartment of VSG gene silencing in T. brucei?
Kommentar: As PhD students, we are fortunate to work independently and self-determined like these Burmese fishermen captured in the early morning hours on lake Inle. They are surrounded by a beautiful scenery during work, as we are placed in an inspiring and supportive environment at university. But as the fishermen do, we are all struggling on our own project - somehow isolated from colleagues and even more distant from non-scientists, who should profit from our findings at the end of the day. I often ask myself how we can establish efficient team work in science instead of boosting single egos.
